The installation of "Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2022 SDK" (VSTA) is required to play recorded command-macros and to edit them. Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2022 has to be installed for ARES Commander 2015 and the following versions separately.

For the installation you have to download VSTA. First you close the ARES Commander application and follow the steps of the setup. After the installation you can play macros. For manual editing of macros you have to install a Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 Professional version additionally.

They can be downloaded from Microsoft directly under:

Note:
The Microsoft Download Links for VSTA 2022 often changes. Please search for it via your Internet-browser "Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2022 Download" in this cases.

Please check also the system requirements for VSTA 2022. It can be only used from 64-bit Windows 10 version 1909 or later, Windows 11, or Windows Server 2016 or later.

To get a properly running VSTA with editor you have to install the following programs:

  • A full-licensed ARES Commander Installation

  • Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2022 SDK or higher

  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 Professional version or higher

Important Note:

Please note that the VSTA and VSTAMANAGER commands can be only used in a full-licensed version. The 30-days trial license and the demo (write-protected) mode don't support these VSTA features.
