ARES Electrical does not currently provide specialized APIs for electrical objects (e.g., wires, circuits, terminals), electrical annotations (e.g. cross reference or wire address) or direct manipulation of the electrical component library. However, it fully supports the same core API technologies that are available in ARES Commander.

These APIs can be used to automate tasks, create custom commands, manipulate standard drawing entities, and extend the user interface.

Current APIs supported LISP/DCL (AutoLISP-compatible), FRX C++, TX C++, .Net API and ActiveX/COM

Limitations

While these APIs offer extensive capabilities for general DWG manipulation, they do not expose:

  • Electrical schematic intelligence (e.g., automatic wire numbering, device tagging)

  • Electrical-specific objects and their metadata

  • Component database integration or part catalog customization
