Build No. 26.1.1.2171 (SP1) - Release 03/07/2025

Below you can find the main fixes and new improvements on ARES Mechanical 2026 SP1:

  • AM_DIMALIGN - Align Dimensions Command:

    • Align dimensions more precisely with the new AM_DIMALIGN command, which allows users to line up linear, ordinate, or angular dimensions with a selected base dimension.

    • By aligning dimensions in relation to a common reference, users can create cleaner and more readable technical drawings with minimal manual adjustment.

    • The command validates and aligns dimensions of the same type (e.g., linear to linear, angular to angular), ensuring consistent orientation and spacing.

    • It also provides detailed feedback when dimensions cannot be aligned due to a mismatch in type, orientation, or geometry.

    • AM_DIMALIGN enhances both visual clarity and drawing accuracy, especially in complex mechanical layouts.

  • AM_DIMINSERT - Insert Dimension Command:

    • The new AM_DIMINSERT command allows users to split a linear or angular dimension into two separate dimensions at a specified point.

    • This capability is especially useful for breaking long dimension lines or angle spans into more readable segments without manually redrawing them.

    • When splitting, the new dimension is automatically created from the second extension line of the original and inherits properties such as tolerance, fit, and layer assignment.

  • Power Dimensioning Contextual Ribbon - "Representation" Panel:

    • The new “Representation” panel in the “Power Dimensioning” contextual ribbon introduces a faster and more intuitive way to apply visual annotations to dimensions such as reference, theoretically exact, not to scale, and inspection indicators without the need for manual text overrides or complex property adjustments.

    • This enhancement brings clarity and compliance to mechanical drawings by offering quick visual tags for special dimension types, helping users better communicate the design intent, inspection frequency, and precision of measurements.

    • With built-in formatting options and dedicated support for inspection dimensions, users gain both precision and flexibility directly within their active workflow.

  • Power Dimensioning Contextual Ribbon - Enhancements:

    • The "Dimension Representation" option has been added to the “Properties” dialog for both the "Copy from" and "Apply to" functions in the “Reuse” panel of Power Dimensioning.

    • The "Copy from" and "Apply to" functions in the “Reuse” panel now support dimensions that include alternate units.

    • In the “Fits” dialog, the "Mating" checkbox is now automatically enabled when a fit tolerance of "H/h" is selected.

    • The “Fit Symbol” combo box now supports manual input via the keyboard. Users can type valid fit symbols (e.g., H7, h6) directly into the combo box, and the system will recognize and apply them correctly.

    • When a Fit tolerance is applied and the representation is set to "ARES Tolerance", only the Fit button is now highlighted.

    • Fit tolerance representation now displays correctly when alternate units are enabled using the "Predefined" format (<>[]).

    • Improved reliability of dimension text when using power dimensioning features.

If you are facing issues that are crashing the application, please use the Crash Report tool to let us know about it. If possible, it's always useful to provide the reproduction steps in the comments section of the Crash Report tool.
