Connection to Database and New Database Engine in ARES Electrical
ARES Electrical 2027 SP0 introduces major improvements to the database system, making it lighter, faster, and more flexible.
In previous versions, ARES Electrical relied exclusively on Microsoft SQL Server LocalDB to manage libraries and project data, including components, symbols, wire types, cables, and manufacturer parts. While this solution was reliable, it increased the installation size and could sometimes create configuration challenges, especially in environments with strict IT policies.
To address these limitations, ARES Electrical now introduces a Database Engine Exchange, adding support for a modern embedded database engine based on SQLite. This new option simplifies installation, reduces system dependencies, and improves responsiveness when working with local project data.
New Connection to Database Dialog
Alongside the new database engine support, the Connection to Database dialog has been redesigned to provide better visibility and control over database connections.
With the updated interface, users can:
View recently used databases
Check the database version
Measure connection latency
Verify whether databases are up to date
These improvements make it easier to monitor the status of each database and quickly identify potential issues.
Managing Database Connections
The dialog also provides several tools to manage and maintain database connections.
Users can:
Validate database connections
Update databases when required
Connect to multiple database engines, including:
SQLite
SQL Server
LocalDB
MDB
This flexibility allows organizations to choose the database solution that best fits their infrastructure and IT policies.
