Build No. 27.2.1.3135 (SP2) - Release 13/10/2026

Below you can find the main fixes and new improvements on ARES Mechanical 2027 SP2:

  • AM_DATUMTGT Command:

    • The new AM_DATUMTGT command creates standards-compliant Datum Target symbols, available from Mechanical Annotate > Symbols.

    • Datum targets can be created as None, Point, Line, Circle or Rectangle types, or attached to another datum target.

    • The Datum Target dialog sets the datum identifier, the target area size and the 'Datum area on far side' option, and a Settings dialog controls the style, leader, arrowhead and text height.

    • Existing datum targets can be edited with the new AM_DATUMTGTEDIT command, by double-clicking, with grips or in the Properties palette. [AM-5840]

  • AM_TAPERSYMBOL Command:

    • The new AM_TAPERSYMBOL command creates standards-compliant Taper and Slope symbols, available from Mechanical Annotate > Symbols.

    • After the taper centerline or slope baseline and the taper or slope object are selected, the value is calculated automatically and updates when the geometry is modified.

    • The symbol type (for example default or flipped orientation) is selected from the Symbol palette, and the value can be shown as a ratio or a percentage.

    • Existing symbols can be edited with the new AM_TAPERSYMBOLEDIT command, by double-clicking, with grips or in the Properties palette. [AM-5842]

  • AM_NOTEEDIT Command:

    • The new AM_NOTEEDIT command opens the Note Editor (the same editor used for MTEXT) to edit Mechanical Leader Notes.

    • Leader Notes can also be edited by double-clicking them.

    • Previously, the text of a Leader Note could only be changed in the Properties palette. [AM-6032]

  • Result Bar in BOM and Parts List:

    • The BOM and Parts List dialogs now include a new 'Result Bar' button, which adds a total row at the bottom of the Parts List.

    • Numeric columns (for example, Quantity or Weight) marked as 'Sum' in the BOM Settings are added up automatically in this row.

    • The Result Bar can be turned on or off separately for each Parts List. [AM-5910]

  • Copy and Paste in BOM and Parts List:

    • The BOM and Parts List dialogs now support copy and paste (Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V) with Microsoft Excel.

    • Users can copy one or more cells from the table and paste them into Excel, or copy a cell range from Excel and paste it into the table. [AM-6052]

  • Toolbox – Custom Standards:

    • In the Toolbox-Table Editor, changes to the 'Description', 'Standard' and 'Related Standard' fields of custom standards are now saved automatically as soon as editing is finished, for example when moving to another field or closing the dialog.

    • Previously, these changes were saved only when the Enter key was pressed. [AM-6049]

  • Toolbox – Search Hardware by Standard Number:

    • The 'Type' field in the AM_HARDWARE, AM_HOLEFEAT and AM_SCREWCONNECTION dialogs now displays the standard number next to the part description (for example, "Countersunk Flat Head Screw - ISO 7046").

    • Users can search by either the part name or the standard number, and matching parts are suggested while typing.

    • If the entered text does not match a valid part, the field is highlighted in red and the 'OK' button stays disabled until a valid type is selected. [AM-6047]

  • Toolbox – Separate Thread Lines and Hidden Lines:

    • In Toolbox Settings (AM_SETTINGS → Layers → Hardware and Hole), the combined 'Hidden and Thread Lines' entry has been split into separate 'Hidden Lines' and 'Thread Lines' entries, so each can have its own layer, color and linetype.

    • Previously, thread lines always used the dashed hidden-line style.

    • This applies to hardware (for example, bolts), holes and screw connections. [AM-6051]

  • Toolbox – Faster Editing:

    • The new AMTOOLBOXEDITMODE profile variable can be set to 'Direct' to skip the intermediate 'Edit Definition' dialog of AM_EDITHARDWARE, AM_EDITHOLE and AM_EDITSCREWCONNECTION and open the edit dialog straight away.

    • After the edit dialog is confirmed, the part can be rotated into position as when it was first inserted; pressing Enter keeps the current angle.

    • A new 'Edit' item in the part's grip menu also opens the edit dialog directly. [AM-6063]

  • Toolbox – Creation Method:

    • The 'Creation method' (the view, such as front or top view) of hardware and holes can now be changed in the AM_EDITHARDWARE and AM_EDITHOLE dialogs.

    • A new 'New view' item in the part's grip menu inserts the same part in a different view, making it easier to draw projections of existing parts. [AM-6064]

  • Miscellaneous:

    • The Parts List dialog now displays the correct data when a group filter is applied, and no item numbers are missing. [AM-2630]

    • The JIS title block now displays the correct text instead of question marks when a new drawing is created with a drawing frame. [AM-5331]

    • The AM_AUTOCLINES command now creates construction lines at the insertion point of blocks, and its dialog correctly applies the last selected option. [AM-6042]
