ARES Commander supports Offline Activation: You can activate the product and get a local license granting you access to the software for the entire length time/duration of the license, without needing internet access.

FAQ's

"Do I need an internet connection to use ARES Commander?"

An Internet connection is not required to use ARES Commander. Saying this, the software uses the internet for some functionality and licensing verification.

"Do I need to activate the license offline/use OFFLINE Activation if I'm going to use ARES Commander in a computer without internet access?"

This will depend on the period of time the computer will not have Internet access.

You can use ARES Commander in a computer without internet access for up to 30 days. If by then the software is able to contact the Licensing Servers, this "time counter" resets, and another 30 days count will start. For use of the software in a computer with only occasional lack of internet access, we wouldn't recommend the use of OFFLINE Activation.

"My computer doesn't have internet access at all. Can I still use ARES Commander in this computer?"

Yes. You can generate a license file from a different computer, and then transfer it to the desired computer (e.g. using USB memory stick).

"Can I use the license file in different offline computers?"

No. The license file is generated based on computer specific information: You will only be able to use the license/activate ARES Commander in the computer from which you obtained the HostID (see process below).

"Will my Plugins work, if I use the OFFLINE Activation?"

ARES Commander plugins licenses are "standalone" licenses and as long as ARES is running, the plugin will run as well. If you need to allocate the plugin license to a different computer (the Offline computer in this case), you can do so by
-logout (from ARES) in the computer on which the product is/was activated, in order to allow the activation and use on a different computer (e.g. laptop).
-login in the Graebert Customer Portal, and release the license from the computer on which as previously activated, in order to allow the activation and use on a different computer.

IMPORTANT NOTES

OFFLINE Activation is an irreversible operation: This means that the license will be permanently allocated to the computer for the entire length time/duration of the license, and it will not be possible to transfer the license to a different computer.

Your ARES Commander license can be used in two computers simultaneously, but only with one user/user account (see also our license agreement). If you perform the OFFLINE Activation, the license will be permanently assigned to that computer. The "second activation"/license will still be transferable/manageable via your account in the Graebert Customer Portal.

Once you perform the OFFLINE Activation, ARES Commander no longer needs to contact the Licensing Servers for Licensing verification: As the License is stored locally/in the computer, it is no longer required to Login to your account in the ARES Commander Start Page.

Once/when you perform the OFFLINE Activation, store/save the license in a safe location/do not remove or move the license, as it may impact the Licensing information.

OFFLINE Activation - Process

To perform the process, you will need one device with internet access (to access your account in the Graebert Customer Portal).

In the computer you want to activate Offline, Launch ARES Commander.

In the Start Page, if you are currently Login to your account, Logout.

Click the option/button "Activate Permission Key"

On the following screen, click "Alternative Activation Methods"

Click "Activate Offline"

Follow the instructions in the following dialog:

Login to your account in the Graebert Customer Portal.

Under "Products", expand the node of ARES Commander: Click the option "Activate your product for Offline use":

You will see a reminder of the limitations to use by activating Offline. Once you read it, Click "I Agree" to continue.

Select the product, Insert the HostID generated by ARES Commander, Select the OS, and Press "Activate".

Download the file generated. If applicable, transfer it to the computer to be activated, and save it in a safe location. Use the Import button in the (ARES Commander) dialog shown earlier to "register" the license in the software.

This and other information about Licensing/License Management is available in the Help Files of the Graebert Customer Portal.
