1. Is there any Line Diagram function in ARES Electrical

Yes. ARES Electrical supports the creation of line diagrams (also known as single-line diagrams or functional diagrams) using its symbol libraries and customizable templates. Users can design high-level system representations, which can be linked to detailed schematic pages for cross-referencing and navigation. All components and Symbols have the 'One wire' representation block to be defined, which can be used in the Single Line Page group.

2. How is PLC I/O Management in ARES Electrical working

At the moment, ARES Electrical does not have a dedicated PLC management assistant to control all PLC data from a single interface. PLCs, cards, and I/O modules are created using the same workflow as standard components — by saving them in the library with all their customizable properties. In the schematic pages, input and output cards can be placed individually, and using special attributes, their data can be exported or imported to/from an XLSX table for easier bulk editing.

3. Can we custom BOM & Wire from to connection

Yes. The Bill of Materials (BOM) and From–To wire connection reports are fully customizable. You can choose which properties to include, adjust sorting and grouping rules, and save templates for future projects. BOMs can be generated for the entire project or filtered by page groups, components, or other criteria.

4. Can we import component database library from excel

Yes. ARES Electrical supports importing component data from Excel or CSV files into its database. This allows quick migration of existing libraries, including part numbers, manufacturer details, and custom properties. The imported components can then be linked to schematic symbols.

5. How about wire routing accuracy since it is 2D CAD

When performing automatic wire routing in the panel layout, the accuracy is 100% — wire lengths follow the exact route geometry of ducts, conduits, or the physical panel layout. If these physical elements are drawn to true scale (1:1), the calculated route length will match the real-world measurement. Additionally, a tolerance can be set in the project’s Electrical Settings, either as a percentage or a fixed value per route, to ensure safety margins in wire length calculations.

6. Can we set cable rather than just wire

Yes. ARES Electrical supports cables as multi-core objects. Each cable can have multiple conductors (wires) with individual numbering and properties. Cable definitions can be placed in the schematic, connected to devices, and listed in cable reports.

7. Is it can support Harness Design

ARES Electrical does not include a dedicated harness design tool. Harnesses can be represented using existing wire, symbol, and component library elements, but the software does not have point-to-point harness tables or branching path-specific tools. Harness representation is possible, but for detailed harness engineering, a specialized harness design tool is recommended.

8. Can we control routing direction? i.e wire A must be route through Duct A

Yes. ARES Electrical allows you to define and control routing paths using a segregation property. For example, ducts or conduits can be assigned a segregation value such as "A" or "B," and wires with the same segregation value will only route through matching paths, ensuring controlled and predictable routing behavior.

9. Can we customize wire numbering formula

Yes. Wire numbering formulas can be customized in the Automatic Wire Naming dialog within the Manage tab. You can define prefixes, suffixes, digit length, and increment rules. Properties such as page number, column name, line name, and sequential numbers can be included either in the prefix or suffix, giving complete flexibility to match company or project standards.

10. How to customize wire numbering? (e.g.: L1-1....L1-30)

At first, wire names rules can be set through Manage Tab> Automatic Names...> Wires

Then, to use these names, there are a couple of options:

  • Use the numbering tool;

  • Number by selection;

  • Create a Wire group with the wires already using these set formulas.

To define wire names by default, right-click the wire on the Wires Palette, and set the name.

Now you need to create the wire group at the upper part of the wires palette:

11. How to leverage existing DWG into the ARES Electrical?

All DWG can be used in ARES Electrical.
To create Symbols and Components, go to Components/Symbols Palette> New> Define proper classification> Create a new block using legacy DWG.

To create/edit pages using legacy DWG, go to the Manage Tab > Page Groups > Create a new page or Edit an existing one. In the page drawings, use your legacy DWG data to create a new one.

Under Reports tab> Report Templates...> we will have a set of configurations for all lists and reports.

The DWG blocks responsible for the report's structure (mostly important Detail and Header) are pointed out there, and to create them, you need to:

Draw in the graphics area or copy/paste from your CAD tool;
Then, Manage tab> New control... (New component drop-down menu) or Edit Control... to edit some existing block on the graphics area and then New Control... to save it again.

An important disclaimer: ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO PLACE ALL ENTITIES FOR Components and Symbols, Pages, Reports, and other CAD blocks, IN THE LAYER "0" (ZERO).

12. How to do phase inverting while developing the Power Line Drawing?

When you are drawing the wires, you will see the flip instruction as shown in the image below:

Hit the "f" and enter, the wires will be flipped.

13. How to split the DWG result into multiple pages (for sending to other DWG software)?

Go to Project> Export... > Pages> DWG.

ARES Electrical will create 1 DWG file per page to be used in another CAD Software.
