ARES Electrical introduces a new feature in the Wires Palette that allows users to define and insert Wire Groups. With this option, you can insert multiple wires of different characteristics simultaneously into the graphics area.

Previously, inserting multi-phase wires required using the same type for all wires and then manually replacing them afterward. This new feature streamlines the process and reduces repetitive work.

How it works

  1. Open the Wires Palette.

  2. In the upper section, click New... to create a new Wire Group.

  3. From your wire library, select the wires you want to include in the group.

  4. Assign a name to the group (for example: Three-Phase Supply).

Once created, the new Wire Group will appear in the palette and can be:

  • Inserted directly into the graphics area,

  • Edited to change wire definitions, or

  • Deleted if no longer needed.

Example

You may create a Wire Group named Three-Phase Supply composed of three different wires (e.g., L1, L2, L3 with specific colors, sizes, and properties).
When inserted, the group is placed all at once, ensuring faster and more consistent schematic creation.

Benefits

  • Insert wires with different properties in one operation.

  • Save time by avoiding manual replacement of wire types after insertion.

  • Organize common configurations (e.g., three-phase power, control wiring) into reusable groups.
