ARES Electrical improves how components and cables behave when they are inserted on the project but not yet placed in the graphical area, making this workflow work reliably regardless of your Auto-Purge setting.
Previously, users who kept Auto-Purge enabled (the recommended setting to avoid unwanted items in the BOM) could not use workflows like Import Budget, since components would be purged immediately after insertion. This update fixes that, without requiring you to change your Auto-Purge preference.
How It Works
Budgeted components are never auto-purged. They remain in the project regardless of the Auto-Purge setting, and can still be removed with a manual purge if needed.
Newly inserted components and cables are temporarily protected. A session-only flag prevents them from being auto-purged immediately after insertion. This flag clears as soon as you insert or erase any entity for that component/cable in the graphical area.
Cables now use consistent terminology. The "Insert" option for cables has been renamed to Insert on Project, matching the naming already used for components.
The "Insert on Project" option is always available. It's no longer hidden or disabled based on your Auto-Purge setting.
With these changes, you can insert several components on the project first and place them on the graphical area later — including via Import Budget — without needing to turn Auto-Purge off.
