As you may know, ARES Electrical allow us to generate many types of reports and lists. These reports will be written based on all info you added to the project during the development phase. That’s why it’s so important to keep consistency information through each step of development. In this article, you will see how to generate a list of cables, using W1 cable as an example.
📖INFO: There are several types of reports that can be generated by ARES Electrical: labels, cables, terminals and wires.
Which are the formats of the cable list?
ARES Electrical has two ways of representing the list of cables: Table and Diagram.
Cable list: Table
This list presents the cable’s model, name, part number and the name of the components linking to its extremities.
Cable list: Diagram
This list presents the same information as the table format, the only difference is that the information is presented in a more visual way.
Generate list of cables: Table…
Go to Reports Tab> Cable list: Table...;
Select the template file IEC - CABLES-CABOS.grc;
Click in “Open”.
Notice that a new page group called “CABLE LIST” was created at the pages palette. By clicking twice at the page group or page, the list will be displayed.

Go to Reports Tab> Cable list: Table...;
Select the template file IEC - CABLE DIAGRAM.GRC;
Click in “Open”.
Notice that a new page group called “CABLE DIAGRAM” was created at the pages palette. By clicking twice at the page group or page, the diagram will be displayed.
