Before you begin measuring, properly positioning your device sets the foundation for precise and reliable results. A stable setup and strategic sightlines, save time and prevent measurement errors later on.
1. Stability and Leveling
Stable Surface: Always place the laser station on a firm, vibration-free surface. Wobbly floorboards or yielding floors can distort measurement results.
Accurate Leveling: Ensure the device is correctly leveled. The bubble of the integrated circular vial must sit directly in the center of the circle.
2. Strategic Location in the Room
Central Placement: Position the laser station as close to the center of the room as possible. From here, aim to have a direct line of sight to as many walls and reference points as possible.
Handling Obstructions: If you can´t position it centrally or some walls are not visible from the point you chose, simply use the "New Station" feature.
Ideally, position your station with a clear line of sight to water and wastewater connections (e.g., angle valves).
💡 The Smart Floor Point Trick:
When the software prompts you to measure a floor point at the start, always choose the floor area directly in front of the plumbing connections.
Why use this fixed starting point? Making this spot your standard reference point eliminates guesswork. If you need to move the station later or measure an adjacent room, simply aim at this same point again for maximum precision and consistency across the entire project.
3. Measuring at the Correct Height
When measuring wall lengths, aim the laser point at the height where the most critical component will sit- such as the kitchen countertop.
By measuring directly at this functional height wherever possible, you ensure maximum accuracy precisely where furniture and countertops need to fit millimeter-perfect.
